Great game last night. They really layed the lumber to them.

Hopefully Motte has his jitters out of the way after his meltdown in game 1. I'm not going to play pessimist here. Let's just hope he has a short memory.

I'm going tonight. It'll be interesting to watch and see the line-up.
Pitching the MUST to win baseball.

Ooohh sorry Carpfan. You didn't get a great one tonight.

Wellemeyer did not look good from what I saw. And getting in that early hole made it seem like they were just pressing the rest of the way.

Hopefully we can earn the split this afternoon. I am disappointed that I am going to miss Chris Carpenter's first start.

Thanks for the reminder oeshbach, I almost forgot we had an early one today.

I'm excited to see what Carp can do. I'd say we have a good match up today, but I have no idea who Ohlendorf is.

In case you're bored... here's the probables from stlcardinals.com:

Quote:

Thursday, April 9 Busch Stadium | 12:40 PM CT

Ross Ohlendorf, RHP (0-0, -.--)
Pirates (2-1) @ Chris Carpenter, RHP (0-0, -.--)
Cardinals (1-2)

Scouting Report:
Pirates: Ohlendorf made just five appearances in Pittsburgh last season after coming over in a six-player trade in July. But by the time he pitched for the Pirates, it was obvious arm fatigue had set in. This spring, though, has provided a better glimpse of what the Pirates hope that Ohlendorf is capable of. He has shown no hesitancy to pitch inside, and an adjustment in his delivery has him more consistent. He has a power arm, and the Pirates love the fact that he has walked just two in 22 2/3 innings.

Cardinals: This will quite certainly be the biggest start made anywhere in baseball on the season's fourth day. Most clubs, after all, won't be trotting out a former Cy Young winner in the No. 4 spot in their rotations. But that's the case with the Cardinals and Carpenter, the '05 National League Cy Young and an exceptional pitcher as recently as 2006. He had an outstanding spring, allowing just four earned runs -- all of them in his final start. Assuming Carpenter stays healthy after missing nearly two full years due to elbow and shoulder problems, he's truly a top-flight starter.

Well he is a rightie. Hopefully we can have a repeat of Tuesday night.

It wasn't pretty in terms of the offense but that's a winner.

Carp was PHENOMENAL! The offense took a nap, but our good ol' ACE stepped it up and got us in a position to win.

Wellenmeyer just throws a straight fast ball too much. And doesn't locate it too well when I went to the game. Sad to see that happen. Thompson wasn't good looking either and just left too many prefect pitch hits. :/

Definitely wasn't expecting that much out of Carp! Just thinking of getting 30 starts out of him is enough to salivate. The biggest IF of the season is off to a good start.
