The Cards get a good early test here in Pineiro's first start of the year.

Here's a look at the Cardinals probables, thanks to stlcardinals.com:

Quote:

Friday, April 10 Busch Stadium | 7:15 PM CT

Mike Hampton, LHP (0-0, -.--)
Astros (1-2) @ Joel Pineiro, RHP (0-0, -.--)
Cardinals (2-2)

Scouting Report:
Astros: Hampton will be attempting to log his first full season since 2004. The left-hander has dealt with a rash of injuries over the last four years, but his solid finish with the Braves in '08 -- he was 3-4 with a 4.85 ERA from July 26 through the end of the season -- was enough to convince the Astros he was worth a shot. Hampton is beginning his second tour with Houston. He posted a 69-40 record and a 3.40 ERA from 1994-99 and played in three postseasons with the Astros (1997-99).
Cardinals: Pineiro was angry after he was not chosen to start for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, but he may have found an outlet for that energy. He had an excellent spring, leading to hopes that he'll pitch more like he did late in 2007 than in a frustrating 2008. An effective Pineiro would make an enormous difference for the Cardinals.

Great matchup on Saturday. I think Pineiro has a lot on the line tonight, for all his WBC drama. I hope he proves Oquendo wrong, even though Oquendo made the correct decision.

I didn't get to hear everything about Pinero? Didn't he throw a fit when he was 5th in the rotation?

But go Blues tonight! I'm going to the Blues game. Haha. They need to win here. They better go to the playoffs.
Pitching the MUST to win baseball.

Awesome game today! 7 rbi's for Mr. Pujols... unreal! And for as shaky as Adam looked... wow.

Joel impressed me a lot yesterday. I hope he keeps it up. Last year wasn't terrible, but I thought he could do much better than that.

Pinero is overpaid I think for the kind of starter we get out of him. Anyways, Lohse today... Hopefully he has a good outing. I would like to see a 15 win season out of him.
